The Verindon Alliance by Lynne Stringer

The Vendel—fierce combatants with special powers—and Verindal—skilled scientists—have been at war for as long as anyone can remember. A new threat is discovered, and while the two factions have to fight against old prejudices, only by uniting their forces they'll have a chance to overcome the enemy. The inevitable love story between princess Vashta and prince Brandonin—sworn enemies at the beginning of the tale—doesn't fall into the cliché of the knight in a shining armour saving the damsel in distress. On the contrary. Ms Stinger introduces a strong female character able to defend herself and take the initiative when it comes to action.

The internal dynamics between the members of the two families create more tension as some don’t believe the scientific evidence brought to their attention by Vashta and Brandonin—a sad reality even in our time.

The Verindon Alliance is a young adult love story packed with fast-paced battle scenes. And Ms Lynne Stringer doesn’t shy away from ethical issues about how far one can go to save their people. All characters, main and minor ones alike, are rounded and complex, but also easy to remember, at least to me. But I love stories with numerous compelling characters.

If you like fast-paced adventures with romance, then this story is definitely for you, and you won’t regret buying it.

I give it 4 stars.
