This story starts with a woman in jail accused of murder. Who’s the woman and the dead person is unknown. Then the reader is thrown into the head of this despicable woman, Andrea Coe, who does horrible things while playing the part of the good friend. I had to take this in slow dosages, but not because of lack of quality writing. This character seems so real to be hurting. So throughout the book, we’re led to think something and the plot twists at the end are totally unexpected, like the Spanish Inquisition.
A Year in the life of Andrea Coe is a packed action story with deep, engaging characters, from fragile Leah to aggressive teenager Belinda. The point of view is always in first person, written as a diary, mostly from Andrea and Leah’s perspectives.
I didn’t read book one, and I’m sure I’m missing something if I don’t, but I never felt like I was missing some data. This novel can be read as a stand-alone.
